It was 45 years ago this hour that Captain McSorley sent the last message from the Edmund Fitzgerald : 7:10pm November 10, 1975. But the legend lives on. Why the good ship went down is a mystery, but the most likely cause was a group of three rogue waves - "three sisters" - each with a height of 35' (11m, one third higher than normal waves) hit the ship in succession, overloading the deck. I thought it was a cool song when I was a kid. In high school, it was in a book of poetry, alongside Eleanor Rigby.... because poetry can be cool. It's still a cool song.
